John R. Sutton Jr. has been licensed to practice law since September 2000. John applies his knowledge in the specialized areas of criminal defense, construction litigation, personal injury, domestic litigation, and civil litigation.  John is licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina, The Cherokee Supreme Court of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the United States Federal Court, Western District, 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

John is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and the Academy of Trial Lawyers.

John graduated with Honors from St. Thomas School of Law in May of 2000, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 1996 where he studied Journalism and Mass Communications, and is a proud graduate of Enka High School, class of 1992 (Go Jets!).

John is active in the Candler community: serving as the president of the Enka Candler Business Association; serving on the Board of Directors for United Way of Asheville-Buncombe; he is a founding member of Equal Education for Enka,  and Cleanup Candler citizen groups.  He also volunteers with Asheville Greenworks participating in roadside and river cleanups.  During his free time, John enjoys spending time with friends and family, kayaking, snow skiing and attending live music shows (Widespread Panic).

John lives in Candler with his wife, Maranda and their three daughters, Skylar, Lily and Abi.
